PSLV communication satellite

The 4-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) will launch a 1,410kg communication satellite, GSat-12, on July 15, after nine years.

The lift-off is slated between 4.48pm and 5.08pm from a new, second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The satellite will be used for societal applications such as tele-education, telemedicine and village resource centre operations among others.

The last time PSLV launched a communication satellite was on September 12, 2002, when it placed India’s first dedicated meteorological satellite, Metsat in orbit.
