Demand for luxury cars in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, is on the rise, prompting dealers to expect a record year with sales targets adding up to a gigantic 1,000 cars.
Combined sales targets of Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover, if achieved, will rake in a whopping Rs 350 crore.
It is astonishing that the sales target is more than double of what was achieved in 2010. The three German automakers, viz. Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW, registered sold a total of 502 luxury cars last year. It was a cent per cent increase over 2009.
Dealers already sold 409 cars by the end of the first half of the current year. Thus, they are positive of repeating the feat.
Speaking on the topic, Audi Kolkata’ Mohanlal Bajaj said, “We opened mid last year and sold 95 cars. This year, we have got off to a sprightly start and have done 108 cars. Customer mood is buoyant. There is willingness to spend. If we push the limit, 300 cars should not be too difficult.”
British iconic brands Jaguar and Land Rover recently opened its new dealership in Kolkata as a part of its continued expansion in the Indian market. The state of the art dealership will provide sales as well as after sales services.
