Acer Iconia Tab A500 Android Honeycomb Coming to India

Acer Iconia Tab A500

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 debut internationally showcasing its latest Android 3.1 upgrade, Honeycomb. While the international roll out has already been put into motion it seems the Indian Acer users will have to wait longer, specially as Acer is citing “lack of proper support  by telecom operators.” However we don’t think this excuse will be going down well with the users as we have seen HTC devices get the OTA  (over the air)  roll out in India. Those who are knew to OTA, these air updates allow devices to directly update through their providers without the need for connecting to a internet or wifi.

The expected upgrade is likely to hit India in August and will bring some changes to the existing version. Among the upgrades you will find a USB port that can be plugged in to various devices like keyboards and console controllers, a improved Wi-Fi networking, support for Microsoft Exchange server, videos, files format and more. User will also love the freedom that the new version will bring in terms of customization. Now you can resize widgets and suit the layout and appearance of your Acer Iconia according to your need and choice. A great interface with a more agile multitasking mechanism, you will enjoy the high-end specifications that the new Honeycomb will bring to the tablet.

The Iconia Tab A500 packs in a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor, 10.1 inch vibrant LCD capacitive touchscreen and 5 megapixels camera with LED Flash. Priced at Rs. 26,990, the tablet measures 13.3mm in thickness and is designed using aluminum casing with a glossy finish that gives it a stylish look.

During the launch of the Iconia Series tablets in India in May, Mr W S Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India stated, “With the launch of the Iconia range of tablets in India, we believe this technology will change the dynamics of consuming digital content. With the growing demand for the tablets in India, we expect tablets to significantly contribute to our overall revenue in the calendar year 2011.”
